phase 3

  1. Each member of the teaching group must individually reread the entries throughout the Blog and then reflect on the overall experience. Describe (a) how your understandings for each the categories listed below changed based on your experiences this semester and (b) describe how this might impact your future teaching experiences.
    • Assessing Prior Knowledge- My understanding was that most students know there alphabet and sounds so they could handle all 26 letters of the alphabet, but thats not the case every time.I cant assume that just because they a student should know something doesn't necessarily mean they do.
    • Planning Instruction- I thought I had planned well enough, but after really doing the lesson, kindergarten is a lot of planning. Next time I will have my materials more prepared
    • Designing Instruction- I thought the lesson was appropriate, and everyone seems to agree.  I would do the same thing in a regular classroom, probably just have the room set up differently and better materials.
    • Planning Assessment- My assessment could have been better, I totally spaced about the planning an assessment. This I will take into consideration, that I need to be able to plan to assess my students correctly
    • Instructional Decisions/Teaching I think I could have made a better decision when people were talking or disrupting, but I was nervous, I didnt want to hurt anyones feelings but I needed to have classroom management.
    • Assessment of LearningMy assessment of learning was just through observation, but with more time I could  have more assessments to measure the students growth.

phase 2

The second phase of the Blog reflection is due within a week of each student or teaching group completing their teaching experience (dates will be different for each).
  • Every student or teaching group must create one entry for each of the following items.
  • Include with each entry 2 digital artifacts that demonstrate what you have created, what you were thinking, or where you got your information pertaining to each section.
  1. Instructional Decisions/Teaching: The modifications that would have been made if it were an ell student, this way the student is still doing the activity but is not being overwhelmed.  I would monitor them and only make them do a certain amount of letters, not the whole alphabet. As for the higher level students I would have seen if they could create a sentence to challenge them so they are not bored.
  2. Assessment of Learning: Describe the evidence you have that indicates
    • your students' level of success in achieving the lessons goals The student would reach success if he could memorize the letter and the sound it makes, then try to sound out words and start learning how to read. I think by hearing how they sound when they pronounce the word would better there chances at reading successfully because its familiar to them.
    • Everyone was engaged, i had to redirect a couple times, but for the most part I got positive feedback. If this were a classroom of real kindergarteners than all of them would be occupied because of what I had asked them to do.

PHASE 1!!!!!!!!

Plans Instruction: Tyhe goals for the students are to learn their letter recognition and letter sounds. This assignment is targeted toward kindergarden students. This aligns with the AZ state standards because the students
Create visual representations of personal experiences through media such as drawing, painting, will be able to recognize and respond to visual messages such as logos, symbols and trademarks,Follow simple directions.
Assessing Prior Knowledge: The targeted students would be kindergardeners , there will be no prior learning experiene with this lesson, other than pre-school or parents teaching them at home. For the students who do have prior knowledge then the student will be able to do more than the average student.

Designing Instruction: My lesson is organized by having only a certqain amount of students do certain things at a time. Such as the letter hunt, only an cetain amount of students will be abloe to search at a time, they will be expected to find no more than three letters.Next they will be spilt into groups, certain groups will be working on a recorder some will be on th ecomputer and some will be drawing.
  • THe students who are higher thinkers i will try to have them spell the word that they come up with.

  • The students will be able to work on their own after given the directions and if helped needed it will be provided.

  • Planning Assessment i will need
ABC Flashcards, Alphabet book, tape, colored pencils, paper, recorder, computer all these materials will help the students be able to have better recognition and letter sounds. ELL students  will need to be monitored closely while they are working on the computer and check for understanding
